Op 27 februari 2011 werden de Academy Awards (uitreiking van de Oscars) voor het jaar 2011 gehouden in het Kodak Theatre. De gastheer en gastvrouw van de avond waren James Franco en Anne Hathaway (beide voor de eerste keer). James Franco is o.a bekend van de films Spiderman, 127 hours (genomineerd voor een Oscar), Eat pray love, Milk en de serie Genral hospital. Anna Hathaway kennen we voornamelijk uit de films Rachel getting married (genomineerd voor een Oscar), Alice in wonderland, Get smart, The devil wears Prada en Brokeback mountain.De grote winnaars
De grote winnaar van de avond was The king speech met 4 Academy awards. Inception had ook 4 Oscars, maar in minder belangrijke categorieën.
